The Elegance at Hershey

June 7th - 9th

The Elegance at Hershey begins with The Grand Ascent, a vintage hill climb exhibition in the European tradition, where drivers pilot some of the finest historic race cars up the back access road to the Hotel Hershey.  The Grand Ascent appeals to enthusiasts and curious spectators alike, as this two day hill climb event is sanctioned by the Vintage Sports Car Club of America (VSCCA). Cars & Coffee will be returning, sponsored by our friends at LBI Limited on Saturday, adding to the celebration and the sophistication of the weekend. The Elegance reaches a crescendo on Sunday, with the highlight of the weekend, The Concours d'Elegance. Modeled after the finest concours in Europe and America, The Elegance is a genteel garden party featuring the world’s finest collector cars, displayed around the classically manicured gardens of The Hotel Hershey. Stop by and visit us our exhibit in the Marketplace tent!

Motorcars Delivered... Ready for Spring Driving!

by: Dave Hutchison

This 1979 SI Lotus Esprit JPS (one of twenty six) has been in the family for several years.  After our thorough safety check, we found some issues that needed attention that we plan addressing next fall. We took care of some tasks to make the car safe now, changed the oil and this Lotus is prowling Lehigh county!
The current owner of this 1975 Triumph TR6 was thinking about selling the car since it had become unreliable.  We completed a full evaluation and determined that we could get him back in the drivers seat of the TR that he has owned for many years! He is now recovering from hip surgery and soon shifting through the gears will become part of his recovery therapy!
Ragtops & Roadsters now handles service and restoration of Italian cars!  This beautiful 1960 Triumph Italia 2000 was restored here at Ragtops & Roadsters and at our sister shop Pollock Auto Restoration.  After winning its class at the prestigious Concorso Italiano in California last summer, we will display this stunning car at Cars and Motorcycles of England.

Ragtops & Roadsters Spring Open House

by: Dave Hutchison

After way too much rain, the skies cleared and the sun shone brightly on our twenty-fifth Spring Open House!  Perkasie borough had blocked off Fourth Street between Walnut and Spruce to provide ample parking for all who brought their favorite British or classic car.  Many came from all over the Delaware Valley to see what we are working on in the shop.  Out in front of the shop was the performance based 1958 AC Ace we built with a 300+ HP Rover engine (thank you, Pete and Peter) and parked next to a 1963 Triumph Herald (thank you, Bob) that we installed a 1500cc engine with five-speed and upgraded disc brakes! Inside we served our famous scones, donuts, coffee and teas for everyone to enjoy. This year, our feature on the top floor was the 25 years of experience with three very rare Concours-winning Triumph Italia 2000 GTs that we have restored over the years.
We helped a friend of ours find a classic as a surprise for her husband.  He came to our Open House and she quietly gather her family to witness the big surprise... A fully restored 1975 MGB! He smiled all afternoon! Also, on display were some 20 projects ranging from spring maintenance to fully restored cars. Downstairs we had several Jaguars, MGs, Lotus all under restoration. We had about 250 enthusiasts come through the shop and had only three scones left… It was a good day!

r.d. Enterprises Open House with "PALS" aka  "Parts in a Barn"

by: Dave Hutchison

Our friends Linda and Ray Psulkowski, proprietors of r.d.Enterprises for 45 years now, held their first annual spring open house in Quakertown as part of the "P.A.L.S Garage Tour" this year.  About  25-30 Lotus Enthusiasts participated with 17 Lotuses or Lotus DNA cars.  The food and conversation was good and it was great to see everyone get out for this nice event.  Ray's 1971 Elan saw the light of day for the first time in many year as he is in the final stages of restoration and hoping to debut the car at LOG 39 in Sturbridge, Mass  later this summer. Well done! Ray & Linda

Ragtops & Roadsters New Blacktop!

by: Dave Hutchison

We are very pleased to report that we had C&C Paving company come in and lay down some beautiful black top aka tarmac in our back parking lot and our front "pad". This will go a long way in helping us keep cars clean here at the shop, not to mention an easier effort to clear snow in the winter!
Thanks Mike & Peggy!
We are here to help out with spring projects. Maybe it's time to take care of that deferred maintenance, restoration, preservation, and upgrade needs that are on your car's "to do" list? Click here to send an e-mail to dave@ragtops.com or call us 215-257-1202 to schedule an appointment. We are currently scheduling appointments in July and August, so it's not too late to plan for repair or restoration work so you can still drive this summer! Click to see our updated Works In Progress page on our website.
We have recently listed more of our client's British cars looking for new homes. Click on our For Sale page to see current listings. Click here to see more pictures of this very clean well sorted 1974 Lotus Twin Cam Special five-speed shown below.
The asking price was just reduced!
Happy Motoring!
