2021 Amelia Island Concours

POSTPONED TO MAY 20th to MAY 23rd
Now in its third decade, the The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance is among the top automotive events in the world. This is one for your bucket list!

2021 Cars and Motorcycles of England

POSTPONED TO AUGUST 7TH
Remember these days? Volunteers from the Delaware Valley Jaguar Club and the Delaware Valley Triumph Club had our first CMOE planning meet via Zoom and we voted to proceed with caution as we hope that the Covid-19 numbers will continue to improve this spring.  At this time, Hope Lodge is closed until the end of June so we voted to postpone until Saturday August 7th as a back-up date. Fingers crossed that we can have a show this year!  For now we must all Keep Calm and Carry On. Stay healthy and stay tuned here for more details as they become available.

2021 Philadelphia Auto Show

NEW DATE JUNE 19TH - 27TH
We here at Ragtops & Roadsters and Pollock Auto Restoration have supported the AACA Exhibit at the Philadelphia Auto Show for many years. We work hard to bring in a fresh display of vintage AACA quality vintage automobiles to raise awareness of the AACA and for the motoring public to enjoy. This year the Philadelphia Auto Show was initially delayed until March and just in the last several weeks we understand, that the date has now been moved to June. Stay tuned to their website for more updates as they become available.

British Car Calendar of Events

WE ARE STARTING TO SEE THE EARLY 2021 CALENDAR EVENTS POSTPONED TO LATE SPRING / SUMMER. THIS WILL MAKE A VERY BUSY SUMMER AND FALL! MANY EVENTS HAVE BEEN SCHEDULED ON TOP OF OTHER EVENTS. THE EVENTS THAT HAVE SURVIVED THROUGH THE PANDEMIC ARE DRIVING EVENTS THAT CAN HOLD TO A SMALL NUMBER OF PARTICIPANTS WHILE OBSERVING PHYSICAL DISTANCING. MONTHLY MEETING HAVE GONE VIRTUAL OR POSTPONED TO LATER IN 2021. WE STILL RECOMMEND THAT YOU DOUBLE CHECK ALL CALENDAR LISTINGS TO CONFIRM, BEFORE HEADING OUT TO ANY EVENT BECAUSE EVENT SCHEDULING CHANGES DAILY. NOW THAT THE VACCINES ARE ON THEIR WAY, WE SINCERELY HOPE THAT 2021 WILL BE THE YEAR THAT MANY EVENTS RETURN.

                                   KEEP CALM AND CARRY ON!

Many of the local British Car Clubs listed below are conducting their monthly meetings via Zoom. Check their website or Facebook Page for more information.

Motorcars Delivered... Ready for Winter Driving!

by: Dave Hutchison

This Cobra replica with a 351 Ford (Cleveland) V8 produces ample power and is a fun car to drive! It came in for a new ignition system and to have the turn signals repaired  This owner and his wife came to the shop to pick up this Super Performance Cobra on the coldest day of the year!  He made it home safely with no top and his wife followed in her warm SUV!
This little 1930 Riley Sport Special is based on an Austin A-7 chassis powered by a 1927 1.1 Liter Riley  "Hemi" engine! We have done quite a bit of recent work here at the shop.  We Jet-Hot Coated the exhaust header, repaired the coolants leaks, rebuilt the rear axle, replaced the front king pins, replaced a broken wheel stud. Look for this car on the road next spring near Springtown!
This Triumph TR4 came in to us to repair the passenger window that was stuck and a safety inspection. The owner had us re-route some fuel lines, repair a fuel leak, weld the cracked steering rack mounts and replace the steering bushings. Now that this pretty Triumph is a lot safer, look for this TR at the next GTR where DVT Members can actually Get-To-getheR in person!
The previous owner of the 1973 TR-6 was a very passionate, active DVT Member and he had us install a 5-speed gearbox and Nissan differential about 6 years ago. We lost him at an early age, but he would be happy to hear that we just found a new, passionate owner who is up for the challenge! He recently said; "I would be disappointed if I didn't have to repair anything!" He will be pleased!
This 1977 MGB has sat idle for several years. It was dirty and needed the usual hydraulic work for the brakes and clutch. We replaced a burst fuel line and made it run and stop.  There is more work to do, but they promised to add Stabil to the fresh fuel when they got home and we will do more work in the spring!

Automania Report JAN 15TH-16TH

  By Mike Engard
The annual Auto Mania event has been held at the Allentown Fairgrounds since 1990. Carlisle Events began hosting the event in 2014. For 2021, Auto Mania was held at the Carlisle Expo Center in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, and will return to Allentown in 2022. The show was held under strict Pennsylvania and CDC guidelines requiring masks to be worn at all times and all attendees were expected to practice social distancing to prevent the spread of the Coronavirus.

I attended the event running January 15-17, 2021, and was able to shop indoors, in a heated setting for automotive parts, tools, collectibles and 'auto art'.  This was an opportunity to look for parts for projects in the shop as well as winter projects at home. The event venue was smaller then Allentown, but the vendor areas inside and outside were full and we were delighted to see that there were many enthusiasts in attendance. I picked up an interesting piece of rare Jaguar literature from when Jaguar was considering, but never built, a four cylinder XK 100 to sell alongside the six cylinder XK 120 'Super Sports' that we all know and love!
See pictures below...
Click on Carlisle Events to get more information on over a dozen collector car events for the upcoming year, including four automotive flea markets of varying size, five collector car auctions, as well as individual specialty shows featuring Corvettes, Fords, GMs, Chryslers, trucks, imports, tuners and performance sport compacts. The year starts locally with Spring Carlisle on April 21-25.

The Alvis Motorcar Company
"The Continuation Series"...they are building real Motorcars again!

The Stunning coachwork of this two-door Sports Coupe was first exhibited at the 1935 Paris Motor Show. The powerful six-cylinder Alvis engine provides effortless performance and the luxurious seating is upholstered in the finest materials, affording maximum comfort on every journey for the discriminating driver.

Several models are also available on their UK webiste.  More features can include a sunshine roof, walnut veneered interior woodwork, leather is available in a choice of colours as is the exterior paintwork. Each body is manufactured to customers’ special personal requirements.

The Grand Tour!
On my to COVID watch list on Amazon Prime Video

I am sure many readers remember the Top Gear Series (click here for one of my favorite episodes) with James May, Richard Mammond and Jeremy Clarkson, that first appeared on BBC TV back in 2002 and ran through March of 2015. The show abruptly ended when Jeremy Clarkson allegedly had an altercation with the show's producer.  It looked like their automotive antics had come to an abrupt end and it did...for a while. Out of the ashes of Top Gear, The Grand Tour came to life and since November 2016 they have produced over 40 shows as they roam the world with even more motoring mania!  I started to watch this series in 2016 but lost touch but now, due to Covid-19 time, I have been catching on past episodes. One that caught my attention was from Season 2 Episode 8 from January 2018 titled "Blasts from the Past" where the three are up to their old tricks again as they drive a 'new'  Aston Martin DB4 Lightweight, a recently built Jaguar XKSS and some silly modern Honda. Their banter and chemistry is still great and it is well worth your time to check them out again on Amazon Prime!

Looking For a New Garage

We have recently listed on our website more of our client's British cars looking for new homes. Click on our For Sale page to see current listings. These motorcars don't come along all that often! Both of these Morgans are original owner cars that have been well cared for over the years and will look great in your garage!

1954 MORGAN +4

This is a one owner, "A-Title" well cared for example of a Morgan +4 that was purchased by the current owner in Paris and driven on holiday through Europe! It was restored back in the 90s and was just freshened, with a new battery, the carbs were rebuilt and it now runs very strong, drives, brakes well and it is a turn-key classic British sportscar ready for driving! This 'Moggy' deserves to fall-in-love with a new mate and carry on! Click here to see the asking price and more picture of this fabulous one owner 1954 Morgan +4. contact Dave@ragtops.com.

2005 MORGAN ROADSTER

Built in November 2005, the odometer shows only 6000 miles and this car is one of 82 Morgan Roadsters that were imported into the US that year. The 3.0 liter V6 Duratec engine runs very strong, the gearbox operation is smooth and brakes are very good. The aluminum body is finished in Connaught Green, a standard factory colour, fitted with Yarwood biscuit leather upholstery. Included is a fawn mohair hood, tonneau and suede side curtains. Black carpets are piped with biscuit leather, finished with black wing beading. Air bags, air conditioning, LeMans shift knob, door pockets and luggage carrier and more. INCLUDED IS THE ORIGINAL CHASSIS CERTIFICATE, A BANNER CELEBRATING THE 100TH MORGAN ANNIVERSARY, CUSTOM DUST COVER AND MUCH MORE! This A-title motorcar looks and drives like a new car and has been meticulously maintained since new. Recent annual service completed at Ragtops & Roadsters and all maintenance records are available for your inspection. Click here to see more pictures and contact Dave@ragtops.com
